The story of Mi Jacalito Mexican Restaurant is that of the American Dream made a reality. In 1995 and 2001 Jose Efrain and Eva immigrated from León, Mexico respectively. Jose Efrain worked as a cook and dishwasher in the restaurant while Eva took care of the guests as a food server.
After over a decade of hard work and dedication, the opportunity to purchase the restaurant came in 2011. The menu was filled with recipes from home, recipes that had been cooked by their parents. These authentic dishes like mole, tamales, menudo and sopa de mariscos became some of the most popular dishes on the menu.
In April of 2017, the unthinkable happened. A fire tore through the restaurant, causing significant damage to it. It was a dark moment, the fear of their dream being lost was difficult to carry. However, Jose Efrain and Eva didn't give up and with the same hard work and dedication that gave them success years earlier they were able to rebuild Mi Jacalito even bigger and better.
From a capacity of 50 people to 110 and a remodeled interior complete bar and second level, Mi Jacalito reopened 17 months later in August of 2018. Because of the incredible community support, Mi Jacalito opened strong and continues to be a success!
